in case anyone doesn't already know: yes kick cops out of your communities. but don't organize on mastodon. it's absolutely not secure. sure, use encryption, but still don't put anything in signal you wouldn't want showing up in court. turn your phones off, leave them at home, and go for a walk. if you think that's extreme you haven't been paying attention to developments in the surveillance state and extensions of that power to local police departments. look up "stingrays" for the tip of the iceberg

@nova Unfortunately, a lot of people cant walk the hundreds of miles to the people they need to talk to. If someones communicating across a country, or continent, encryption still feels like the best option... even if its not secure. Oh and never use Telegram

surveillance state

@SkellySoft yep, totally fair. everyone has to adapt to their circumstances. but people misunderstand the risk profiles involved and education about that needs to be more widespread in activist circles

surveillance state

@nova its true. its also fucking horrific that we've got to the point where using numbers stations and otps seems reasonable for people just trying to organise a fucking climate protest or something (not that i have any experience, i dont really live somewhere with easy access to a place where i *could* protest even if i wanted to)
